Kids and Legos Everywhere

Today was a long but fun day.  We started out meeting Amanda and Adeline and then headed to the Varsity in Atlanta for lunch.  Apparently, they have been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.  It was pretty neat.  We got there early so there wasn't a crowd.  By the time we left the place was packed.  Then we headed to LegoLand Discovery Center in Phipps Plaza. It's a great place to take a kid who is crazy about Legos.  Personally, I think it's way over priced.   They had the entire city of Atlanta built completely out of Legos.  The first thing you did was go on a ride that had laser guns and you had to shoot the bad guys and save the princess.  The ride is fairly dark and Drew didn't freak out like I thought he would.  He even went through a room that was dark with lasers that you had to try to go over and under.  Then we watched a 4D movie that was about 10 minutes long.  There were fans blowing air on you as if you were going on the chase, they sprayed us with water like it was coming out of the fire hose and then there was something that was supposed to be like shaved ice.  Not only did Drew wear the glasses, he didn't flip out when the water and other stuff came out.  Then him and Adeline played in the play area that's like the one at Chick-Fil-A only much larger for about 30 minutes.  After that we went to Menchie's for yogurt and then on to BB for Drew's session.  His session started out kind of rough but once they got started he did pretty good.  We came home and ate dinner and then went for a late swim.

I'm convinced now that Drew has serious anxiety about the unknown.  This morning I told him we were going to LegoLand and he started freaking out.  I thought for sure that was safe ground since he likes Legos.  But oh no.  He was actually visibly shaking.  I tried to focus on lunch and he kept saying no LegoLand.  I knew that once I got him there he would be fine.

Bullets from today:
  • On the way to meet Amanda and Adeline he asked me "Where are we eating?"  Then he says "Varsity and no LegoLand."
  • At lunch he was playing with mine and Abby's hands using them as puppets.
  • After lunch, we were standing at a counter and he looks and Abby and says "Shoe not working" and threw his foot up on the counter for Abby to tie his shoes.
I was really proud of him today.

Until next time,
